Estimated overall cost of necessary upgrades to NJ's water infrastructure is $30 billion

NJ is getting a rush of federal funds to help clean up its drinking water, but that $169M is a drop in the bucket when it comes to all the contamination the state must contend with. Shawn LaTourette, Department of Environmental Protection commissioner, said the overall cost of necessary upgrades is estimated at $30 billion, with $2-$3 billion of that needed for lead-pipe remediation alone.
