Unemployment rate in the state remains well above national average
Many NJ businesses have worker shortages despite the state’s high unemployment rate. As of November, the unemployment rate here was at 6.6%, a decrease from the previous month’s 7% rate, but still higher than the national average of 4.2%. Labor experts say the continued extension of unemployment benefits is a contributory factor. And rising rates of COVID-19 aren’t helping the situation.
